Pulitzer Hotel, Amsterdam
The Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam is a unique blend of historical charm and modern design. Housed within 25 restored 17th and 18th-century canal houses, the hotel offers an unmatched, authentic Dutch experience set amidst the city’s iconic canals. The hotel combines traditional Dutch craftsmanship with unique contemporary touches, offering a rich cultural experience. While the hotel itself is the epitome of expression, the brand that represented it had begun to lose its way. We were tasked with realigning that brand with the overall direction of the hotel and embracing what makes this such an exciting, memorable venue for guests.

DESIGN FOR PRINT
The challenge with the existing brand was its struggle to represent the diverse experiences offered across the hotel’s 25 interconnected canal houses. However, we saw this as an opportunity to celebrate variety, leading to the creation of postioning that we called "The Eclectic Fantastic." Rather than simplifying, we chose to amplify—embracing more creativity, more energy. In a space that defies convention and doesn’t do subtle, our approach followed suit. The brand identity is built on creative diversity, allowing it to operate boldly and immerse guests in a dynamic, unforgettable experience as they move through the hotel’s ever-changing spaces.
While creating a brand shorthand provided the hotel with a new unifying element across communications, it was illustration that truly captured the dynamic energy and diversity of the venue. Artists like Jay Cover, Stephanie Wunderlich, and Jan Robert Duennweller brought their unique perspectives to the brand, using the hotel’s colour palette to bring consistency to their work. The result? A lively, yet cohesive visual language that mirrors the pace and variety of the space. With every internal twist and turn, the hotel now has a brand identity that embodies its surprise-filled character and connects seamlessly with both guests and the world outside.
